Avicii Arena

The globe arena by Globen – up to around 16,000 for concerts and 13,850 for ice hockey, rebuilt and reopened 1 February 2025; AIK and Djurgården play here.

About

Avicii Arena is the sphere on Arenavägen: 110 metres in diameter, 85 metres high inside and, according to its owner SGA Fastigheter, the world's largest spherical building. Construction began on 10 September 1986 and the arena opened on 19 February 1989 as Globen; on 19 May 2021 it got its current name. Capacity is around 16,000 for concerts and 13,850 for ice hockey, and the attendance record of 17,303 was set by Metallica in May 2018. The arena was rebuilt during 2024 and reopened on 1 February 2025 with a new inner ceiling and sound system, new stands closer to the floor and a new jumbotron. Both AIK Hockey and Djurgården Hockey play home games here and at Hovet in the 2026–2027 season. Tickets are sold through AXS, and the box office at Globentorget 2 opens around events. SkyView, the glass gondolas up to 85 metres, keeps regular hours Monday to Saturday 10–16 and costs 180 kronor for adults. The arena is run by Stockholm Live; the nearest station is Globen on the green line and Tvärbanan.
