Building projects in Slakthusområdet

The town park of the first phase, extended from the rock edge all the way across Hallvägen, with space for play, social activities and small events, and a stair and timber deck on the rock edge overlooking the park; it is also built to take cloudburst water. The front part is open and the rest opens gradually during autumn 2026; landscaping began in June 2025 and Peab carries out the work entirely emission-free, with electric machines down to the hand tools, according to the city.

The 1912 market hall for small livestock, designed in Art Nouveau style by Gustaf Wickman, is being restored inside and out into around 1,950 square metres of offices. Haglöfs is leasing 1,400 square metres for its head office and showroom and moves in in November 2026 according to the landlord's October 2025 press release. The landlord's project list gives completion in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The blue line's station with its platform 40 metres below ground, two exits and three entrances: the north one in a new office building at Arenavägen/Palmfeltsvägen near Tvärbanan, the south one level with 3Arena on Styckmästargatan with entrances towards Hallvägen and Slakthusgatan. Eight minutes to T-Centralen without changing, 19 escalators, art by Helena Isoz. When the station opens, Globen and Enskede gård close. Service on the blue line to Nacka and Söderort is planned for the second quarter of 2030, but since Region Stockholm's review in September 2026 expected in the first quarter of 2032 – no new timetable has been decided.

Arenavägen is being lowered by up to a metre to meet the surrounding buildings, moved out sideways onto a straighter line, and rebuilt as a city street with room for outdoor seating, planting and places to sit. Extensive utility works beneath it secure the long-term energy supply, and the rebuild is also designed to handle cloudbursts so that lower-lying areas flood less, according to the city's page on ongoing works. Hallvägen has at the same time been opened all the way to Enskedevägen with a new junction, and the old entrance from Arenavägen to Hallvägen is closed for good.

The 1930s warehouse is opened up with glazed gables and joined to a new building to make around 9,000 square metres of offices, with a restaurant – a 710 million kronor investment according to the landlord's project list. Menigo moves its head office here in 2027 on around 3,800 square metres, together with Restaurangakademien and the Bocuse d'Or training kitchen. The city expects occupancy in early 2027.

One of the original 1912 halls, designed in Art Nouveau style by Gustaf Wickman, being converted into premises of 550–1,400 square metres for offices, a showroom or a shop, with ridge skylights, its own entrance from Förbindelsehallen and a private balcony over the concerts there, according to the landlord's own pages for the building and its premises.

An underground mobility hub of 7,200 square metres with 250 car spaces, every one with a charging point, bicycle parking, a car pool, a pool of electric cargo bikes, bike servicing and parcel collection, according to Stockholm Parkering's own project page; construction started in autumn 2025 with NCC as contractor, and the base slab is being cast in 14 stages from February to December 2026. On top, Sisab is to build a primary school – postponed, according to the city, since the pupils are not expected before the 2040s.

The office building over the metro's north entrance: seven floors with 17,000 square metres of lettable space, six office floors of 2,400 square metres each, a restaurant and shops at the base and the station entrance inside the building, according to the landlord's own page for the building. Region Stockholm's metro expansion administration is currently working on the basement and the metro entrance in the same building. The city's detailed plan 2D gained legal force in June 2022.

Stockholm University of the Arts moves its whole operation into a new building by 3XN, winner of the 2022 architecture competition, with SSEA as main contractor, the first sod cut in June 2026 and a twenty-year lease. The building gets two large theatres, two cinemas, film studios, a circus hall with a 13-metre ceiling and a five-storey atrium with a restaurant, and the school expects around 400 public events a year. The block covers close to 36,000 square metres, and the school opens for the autumn term of 2030 according to the landlord.

On 3 June 2026 the city presented plans for a new hockey arena for around 10,000 spectators to replace Hovet. Two sites are to be studied further, Hovet's own and the former Söderstadion site – together the area the city calls Söderhov – and the work centres on how the arena can be combined with new urban development there. No construction start year is published. The arena is in Globenområdet, across Arenavägen.
